Accustomed to the SLR, I acquired this Olympus for my little son. I just made a real test (2 weeks in Norway) with, and I'm quite pleasantly surprised at the quality of the images. Of course nothing to do with an SLR (Highlight fast breakthroughs, rendering textures (foliage, grass) pastellisé quickly as soon as the distance increases, in short the usual quality compact small sensor. But the sharpness is amazing, and it is very fun to lug around in hiking or cycling jersey. On the negative: not enough defined screen (but there is the TG 610 for that), no button to switch to the maximum brightness of the screen (you have to go through the menus and it takes a long time) the lack of lens protection cover (quickly soiled). The lack of adjustment on the colors (too loud for my taste), the propensity to make clear pictures (I put the correction on it continuously -0.3), an emphasis perhaps a bit too far. And no black and white mode.
In the balance sheet, I'm having a hard offer to my little son ... For the price, this is a very good choice, it is super sturdy and makes quality photos, with the compact-specific limitations. Nevertheless, I recommend the TG610 or 810 for those who seek to complement their SLR.
