Polar in the island

William Audru, a Poitevin writer who also holds blog: Territories thrillers.
His island G. Audru went the fish in Scotland, in the strait between the main island of the archipelago of Orkney, in the far north: this is Stroma.
And his book begins quickly and well: in a few pages, it sets us up all the characters (there are some) of the small island (it is not large).
Some brush strokes, brushed rapidly and almost angrily. The island is not tender and islanders either.

Shortly course of activities, except the one and only pub: a fishery, obviously, a distillery, of course, and a wool shop. Rivalries are old and they have deep roots, they resist the wind and the sea.
From the very first pages, the author has even wisdom to spare us a Celtic folklore too heavy, just to boost our confidence and win our complicity for more:

After several years Dexil on the Big Island in Inverness, Eddie returns to Stroma, like the prodigal son. After being a cop here he will resume the family shop. Upon arriving home, we soon guess litigation with the Old, the father. These two Nont not yet settled their accounts with each other and perhaps with others.
But things still saccélèrent with the discovery of a skeleton on a small site. We obviously think of Lhomme Lake lislandais Indridason and moods are quite close.
And our friendly Poitevin didnt really ashamed of this comparison: his first book is quite well written. The chapters alternate points of view: the son Eddie, of course, but also his father, Old and soon the cop on the corner, Moira, which is obviously an old love affair dEddie.
The closed session is open to all the winds but insular atmosphere is stifling, heavy with secrets and unspoken. And this is not the old skeleton surfaced that will say otherwise.
We just regret a few blunders (first novel) in the dialogues that sometimes seem a bit offset in relation to the violence of feelings exposed.
