Poor Max Payne

Poor Max Payne

Max Payne 3 (uncut) [PEGI] - [PC] (computer game)

Customer Review

As a big fan of both of the first two parts of MP as well as the Rockstar Games I lived with the hope that if not already Remedy implementing the third part, it will create Rockstar to make it decent. I also have given the whole a very fair chance but unfortunately leaves the game with me a very bad aftertaste.

First the positives:

The controls are reasonably able Killcam, Bullet Time, Shootdodge and Painkiller, all there, everything familiar.

I was a bit skeptical about this with the bald Bruce Willis to be waste, but Max is Max and the transformation that it is going through great succeeded. The beard is every day more and eventually are from the hair. Start doing the game but with a Max looks so striking as in MP2, that one thinks that only the textures were better resolved and otherwise uses the original.

The graphics are sensational. Point.

There are plenty of cut scenes that are very cinematic staged and where you can sit back and relax.

The animations are outstanding. One notices on every corner and in every detail that has been working with motion capture. Consider, once the football game ends guys in the backyards of.

So now and I do not like my personal conclusion:

The atmosphere just does not fit. Although the makers have given a noticeably huge effort, but if only the setting in Brazil do not fit easily. Because every now and then anklingenden tones of originals Cello also changes eg. Music nothing if then but the whole rest of the time a Brazilian musical carpet is laid.
You just missed the gloomy atmosphere, the rain, the snow. That's not even really on the New York flashbacks Level. It's like Die Hard with no Christmas ... a "film noir" is for me a little more than characters who perceive themselves as "at the end" and to pass through slum district.

The story is boring. This is of course always a subjective experience but the story did not tear me away. They vegetate 0815 standard to himself, is down to the last predictable and unoriginal.

Max is no longer sympathetic. At least not to me. He's just a drunken bouncer with ner gun. There is no reference to it and also to the other figures. Actually, he could at any time have the whole story behind it and just go, its principal clients are only just but which he owes hardly anything. The ans outermost driven cop on the personal Rachfeldzug, where everything has been taken has much more to my liking.

The cutscenes nervous. On the one hand by its length in relation to the actual game (felt 10 minutes watching video, 5 minute shoot), because they are simply seldom really exciting and, secondly, of their style. Again, this is a matter of taste, but the constant flickering bugs me and the constant display of fragments of words and the stop of the image will probably remember the old times comic, but is somehow not whole and not half.

The degree of difficulty and the level annoy me also, though not excessively. Not even so much because of opponents but because of the fluke. Man goes to cover, get a headshot and is killed instantly (which is indeed realistic) and the level must start from the beginning again. This means that you can actually just goes from cover to cover and behind the cover triggers the Bullet Time. The hammer gunfights from the first two parts come so not able to correct.

Conclusion:
Max Payne 3 is quite a good game, it offers a lot of action and a lot of story. But you have to like the story and the setting. For me it felt more like when I would "Kane & Lynch" play as "Max Payne". It's a solid game - but it is true, unfortunately, not quite my personal expectations. Too bad, because the makers have given a lot of effort.
