But one negative to me is from the beginning the route planning. At first I thought that it was an isolated incident. However, the nonsensical route guidance repeated in almost all trips that I wanted to compete with the nüvi:
1. The device suggests in many cases against only one route, alternative routes, I have often missed that have been offered to me when Navigon and appear useful when looking into a road atlas.
2. The suggested routes are not optimal. I would come in rare cases up with the idea for journeys within a radius of 50 km around my town that I've already made, of all proposed by the nüvi 2699 Route drive. In many cases it is more time consuming or longer for Local transport and small, curvy roads. A sensible combination of federal, highway and motorway is hardly available. Even if there is a bypass around a place that tries nüvi to guide me across the place, even if it takes much longer and for local residents is a burden. For more than 2 years in urban areas of 50 changed to 30 km / h speed limits are not entered, so the addition extended the nüvi calculated driving time.
Tentatively, I have about 15 entered my known routes to check the route planning. The results were almost all unsatisfactory.
Eventually knock-out criterion for me was at a destination search but stating a wrong road as the target position in a medium-sized district town with 25,000 inhabitants, thus no small place. A navigation device that is unable to guide me properly to a target, is useless for me. It may be that it was an isolated incident with me, but even so a particular case may in a device for more than 200, - EUR not occur. That's why I sent it back to Amazon.
