`Power` Rising

In August 1983 appeared "Flick Of The Switch ', the eighth studio album released internationally the Australian band AC / DC. Recorded it was by Malcolm Young (Guitars), Angus Young (lead guitars), Brian Johnson (vocals), Cliff Williams (bass guitar) and Phil Rudd (drums), who was replaced by Simon Wright after the recordings. In the video to the disk you can already see Mr. Wright. For the first time, the band produced their album themselves, without outside support. All the pieces were written by Angus and Malcolm Young and Brian Johnson (lyrics).

"Flick Of The Switch" could not repeat "In Black Back" and "For Those About To Rock" the success of the previous album "Highway To Hell", the sales figures were even significantly in the basement (it reached in the US position 15 and was for more than one million copies sold but still a platinum award). With `Nervous shakedown`,` Guns for hire`, `Bedlam in Belgium` and especially` Rising power` are very strong tracks at the start for me. "Flick Of The Switch" is for me something like the Heavy Metal album of AC / DC, the blues of the early days up here just now and then by. Maybe that's why some fans were very disappointed. Today you can find a lot of friends but this plate. `This house is on Fire` and` Landslide` are other good pieces. But there was no track a real classic, `Rising power` could but it deserves.

The bottom line is 4 stars for "Flick Of The Switch", an album which is sometimes wrongly overlooked / ignored. With albums like "Powerage" and "Back In Black", it can not keep up, of course, still some gems are included. The production I find the way, succeeded that fits the pieces.
