My Action Cam Sony HDR AS30V is by remote controlled and considerably more versatile. I use the Action Cam happy for video footage of a hand tripod to hold the camera still and straight as possible. With the remote control in the other hand I can see the image and comfortably press the Start / Stop button, without blurring the scenes. Also "Selfshots" and recordings over a crowd must be made much easier by the remote control. When using the Sony AS30 with protective housing annoying background noises can be prevented by the release button of the protective housing by the remote control. In addition, you can certainly find a multitude of other applications for remote control. Overall, a good buy.
