My ice maker have not smelled when unpacking, possibly the manufacturer has been working on the composition of the raw material?
The handling of the ice maker is very good.
The silicone is not too soft, the ice maker is shaking or not wabbert when carrying around so that the water in the ice maker will remain.
In the frozen state, the ice cubes can easily push out with a finger from the ice maker.
From Ökotest Silicone bakeware were tested some time ago times and there was little reason for complaint.
Here, it should be to say that silicone is insoluble in water and because of the low temperatures and the frozen state of the water is leaching of chemical constituents from the silicone ice cube maker much less likely than silicone bakeware.
For silicone ice maker I got no demonstrable evidence of questionable health. One should also keep in mind, these are the most ice maker completely or partly made of plastic that can contain any harmful substances here. Silicon itself is not alarming as plastics.
