I appreciate the compact dimensions and the weight of the 785B. If need be, it is in my camera bag still under the lid space.
From Mafrotto it is recommended for compact cameras. I do not follow this recommendation, with me a DSLR is also used with telephoto. And without any problems.
The restrictions (there's always):
- Unfortunately, the release plate has a little too much play in their holder. The Manfrotto would certainly solve better.
- If the orientation of the camera (DSLR) eg for macros to be very precise, the head is somewhat imprecise. For compact cameras which is probably better.
- With the compactness and the weight the legs are of course not overly stiff. A oscillated DSLR takes about 2-3 seconds to come in peace.
But never mind, we're talking about an inexpensive tripod. If it were stiff and a proper ball head it would have been much heavier and bulkier and I would not have bought it. In addition, it would cost many times over.
In this price range I have so far seen no better tripod.
