I wanted to run 2 Samsung Spinpoint F1 SATA II drives to my Asus K8V SE Deluxe as RAID. The plates were not recognized (the problem is with controller VIA 8237). No jumper for SATA I mode available, and the patch from Samsung, which should change the plates to SATA I, found no plate. Although the Promise controller on the board recognized the plates, but was not supported by the Samsung Software. On Promise I will not run because I suspect that it is connected only through the slow PCI bus.
With this adapter, the plates were immediately recognized by the IDE port and settled with the patch and the IT tool by Samsung on SATA I (1.5 GB) switch. Now she also recognizes the VIA controller and they now run in the RAID array.
