Beck sign a disturbing album, melancholy that might surprise and scare away some fans. It is far from dance tracks, funky, light of previous albums. Beck delivers a darker part of him. The songs appear bare, many acoustic guitars, strings and batteries (strongly influenced sounds 70's) that evoke the Air Virgin Suicide. Many musical references in this album: a beautiful reading of Melody Nelson album of Gainsbourg (Paper Tiger), songs that evoke Nick Drake, John Cale ... This album will confuse in some but will surely win new listeners more attracted by depressive songwriting !!! To you to get an idea but I hope a good idea!
