I have not tested this smoke detector in action but the product looks serious. However, there is a negative, the case does not come off from its base secured to the ceiling. It is just possible to open the housing (hinged lid). This means that to change the battery, it will do so in situ, perched on a stool. In addition, access to the battery compartment is not easy. Fortunately we do not do it often. Suffice to say that this will not be practical at all. To solve this problem, I bought a magnetic holder, which avoids attaching the stand with screws. This allows to easily remove the whole system (case + stand) ceiling to quietly access the battery.
Note: there are more practical products: I also have a Kidde 29H-FR that allows to separate the box from its base attached to the ceiling (rotary clip system).
