1.Test 1x large movie file 120GB
------------------------
Drobo (Write 86MB / sec) vs. externally via USB3 Dock (Write 106MB / sec)
2. Test RAW image sequences
---------------------------------
We wanted to use the system for DNG sequences in Resolve ... in 2K resolution which is about 4MB files are times 25 to 200 frames per second ... That means the time has quickly copy times one million files ... added the standards are high ...
So I started a little test with 12 080 DNGs files with a total size of 38GB ...
... Here, the Dropo 5D has failed ... the copy with the Win Explorer started even after 20 !! Minutes not and also did not break up ... Apparently there is massive driver problems on X79 Intel chipset ...
About a Sync Tool (Best Sync) I then moved to run the copy operation and was at 4MB file a write speed of about 65-77MB / sec notice ... thus no gain in performance compared to single hard drive on USB3 port (77MB / sec) .. . internally connected via SATA 3 creates the disk even around 104MB / Sec ...
when reading the DNG sequences of Dropo is at least come to around 96MB / sec ... that's exactly the speed of the individual drive (internal and external) ...
The only Wertmutstropfen is for people who have large video files (such as ProRes or uncompressed) and more likely to look at read speeds ... there the Dropo comes to around 250MB / sec ... but is also ridiculous because the WB Black alone in USB dock there 160MB / sec creates ...
also can not Dropo RAID10 (0 + 1) that upon failure of one drive significantly better chance of offering its video project yet with full Geschwingkeit to bring to an end ... at Raid5 or 6 there should be massive performance degradation ...
I did this once simulated and pulled a plate ... the above test with the DNGs reading was then only 28-40Mb / sec (4MB DNGs) ... to the point that the drive has been repeatedly ejected and the Synctool until 2. Providing contact had found all the files ... basically positive but mentioning the were lost, no data ...
Conclusion: in the professional video area where it is on fast write speeds on the set and security and availability of the device arrives disappointed ... only partly recommendable ....

Update
-------------------------
The double redundancy (Raid6) costs around 10MB / sec ...
Furthermore, the device has now been tested 1 week in video editing (DavinciResolve) ... unfortunately the device via USB3 like rising times of .. it is ejected and then found after 20sec again ...
and at a really stable motherboard (Asus P9X79 WS) with server components ...
worse in the fact that large amounts of data via Windows Explorer Copy and Paste can not be copied ...
This freezes just a ... just a Windows reboot helps .... all in all not to use the machine to go back and ...
More extensive testing under OSX I have therefore not even try because the device should run on both platforms ...
