I had a predecessor of the ER 154, but there has now failed unfortunately after years of intensive use of the battery.
Machines of Remington and Philips I've already tried that can the Panasonic but by far not hold a candle.
I have very thick, wiry and thick hair, like a brush, and I shave it every week on 2mm down, otherwise swirls and curls make the ER 1611 slides because so by quietly without chirp and after 2 minutes I am finished inclusive of contours.
The mechanics behind the blade holder is made of metal, not will not be built in China, but in Japan as in almost all cheaper devices made of plastic and the unit, and it shows immediately, it is almost perfectly finished and is in the hands like grown.
Unlike previous devices Panasonic now uses smaller switching power supplies (not this big, clunky Transformer power supplies) that run on 110 VAC, if you are frequently traveling. Instead of the slide switch has now installed a push-button to switch on.
A small problem is the built-in battery that can be replaced, but to have to disassemble the entire unit, and then get back together, that's not quite so easy and who has no talent, it should be better. Also replacement batteries are hard to come by (even here at amazon try) and expensive.
These are basically normal Mignon NiMH batteries, but the contact is different, so that normal batteries do not fit, because you can but what tinkering at your own risk.
A battery would be really great, but then the ER would probably last for decades in 1611 and Panasonic would sign short-time working.
The ER 1611 is also not a consumer product for the consumer, but is intended for hairdressers and is also distributed so, please googling times that hairdressers use it almost all and know why, it's just the best device on the market.
