Sennheiser Amperior dynamic On-Ear Headphones (3.5mm jack, 120dB, 1.2m) blue headphones (Personal Computers)

Customer Review

In the field of DJ-ing and the professional mobile audio technology in the film of the Sennheiser HD 25 enjoys long been a high reputation and is used as a robust and reliable work tool.

Before I go into more detail on the Amperior, I want to discuss briefly above in a few sentences why the Sennheiser HD 25 is in the above-mentioned scene to become a classic.

When DJ-ing and during mobile monitoring for filming a good ambient noise insulation in addition to durability in tough continuous operation above all important that the HD 25 has a high pressure and ensured by the infinitely bipartite headband good pressure relief and a permanent good grip.
Besides offering the HD 25 good level stability at high volumes, so distorted barely.
The fact that all parts can be replaced easily, fast replacement of the defective part is ensured even in a driving failure or cable break.

As a "civilian" offshoot of the legendary Sennheiser has brought the Amperior on the market. The biggest difference to the HD 25 is that the earcups not made from plastic but aluminum and are matt lacquer - a look that is very chic and the more staid work device look different by the color scheme.
That the Amperior aimed at the consumer market, already makes the beautifully designed packaging (which can also be used for storage and storage of the headphones since it is lined with foam) can be seen: you pull the side flap and fold the top half to the left, the view of the Amperior and a round cardboard is free, which is the inscription "Inspired by DJs - Designed for the Streets" bears.
If you remove the cardboard disc just mentioned, the two possible connection cables are exposed. The first has an angled connector, the second a straight and an additional cable remote control for Apple devices.
Apart from the obligatory printed safety and warranty papers is nothing else included - on a storage bag or a second pair of ear pads leatherette as the HD 25, Sennheiser has waived - the Amperior will be shown and not hide in the transport bag and the customer should the questionable and unnecessary for him changing the earpads are spared (or there were ;-) only saves material costs).

By default, the Amperior velor ear pads and a velvet headband, as all parts with those of the HD 25 are identical, an uncomplicated change at any time.
The cable is quite thick on the upper half and leads to the right ear, at which it is fixed with two screws and then divides into two branches, leading to the right and left ear side and with the HD 25, HD 600 and HD 650 known connectors are attached. In contrast to the HD 25, the cable its civilian offshoot is provided with a 3.5 mm below the plug top, short cable, not continuous, but consists of two parts. The lower half (either with or without remote control for Apple devices) is significantly longer, very thin and flexible. Whether it overhangs a stronger clamping off, I dare to doubt a little - but the Amperior charge you any right to be used in tough professional use, but wants to look good on the road and sound good.
I like the piece of cable with the Apple Remote, incidentally less because it sits too low for my taste, the part with the remote control is out too long and the pressure points are not so well chosen.
As already common in the HD 25, is the single-sided cable on the right side of the handset, which is actually uncommon. Thus, it is not uncommon that you see the headphones placed upside down.

Comfort I feel the soft velor ear pads, despite the rather high contact pressure to be pleasant and disguise also occasionally the headband, and it is usually only a little spread. The seat is thus well for me.
The left ear cup can be rotated back and forth - who needs it ...

Sonically, the Amperior on the bassy and warm side and has a more elevated Midbass and also a raised upper bass, but soon enough the drops, so as not to radiate in the middle.
Gen bass then decreases the level.
The centers are then, however, neutral and perhaps a shade on the bright side.
In the medium altitude is the level set back, but rose again in Superhochton at about 10 kHz with a small emphasis again what the bass emphasis compensates beautifully and thus not to sound dark or covered the Sennheiser.

The bass is fast, precise and dry and never tends to roar. Only gene bass sound softens a little.
Technically resolution is the Sennheiser at a good level and works Details sovereign for its price range out.
In the treble Amperior for me never sounds too sharp, but always gently.
Mobile this vote proves with raised bass as right as interference floor rumble and low-frequency traffic noise, which reduce the perception of the bass can be compensated, to also be added the good sound insulation.

That the Amperior is a closed-back headphones, you can tell him to - he has not really space to offer and from a stage presentation I will not talk more than ever. Paradoxically, locating sharpness is very good despite not existing stage and you can easily locate the direction from which the sounds come exactly.

The high level stability is of interest to listeners According to his - high volumes are distortion free and sovereign reproduced by headphones, without the sound softens and is muddy.
As Quiet listener this is for me, however, not relevant.

A direct comparison between Amperior and HD 25 I do not have, but am pretty sure that the HD 25 congruent sounds with velor cushions, unless the seat is identical.

The theoretical advantages of the aluminum case affect only harmful for the hearing levels, because it gets through the greater strength in less vibration, thus conveys the aluminum primarily the customer a higher value and by painting a fashionable touch.

The HD 25 design technically upgrade, thus making him the civilian population as Amperior pleasing, has been a useful step in my opinion, after all, has the HD 25 (/ Amperior) and civilian urban life the same meaningful features that distinguish it already in professional segment have made a classic.
Meanwhile, the production of Amperior is set and has been replaced by the HD25 aluminum, which is with leatherette upholstery, a hardcase for storage and continuous long cable supplied.
