My rating:
"Gown of Roses": The classic shines in a new guise. I love the original and the atmosphere, but the rearrangement creates something that I had not expected. It gives the song the one hand by the omnipresent guitars and discreet electronic sounds, as they are for the new album with this, a hardness that goes well with the text, but on the other hand the quiet passages have been retained. I was convinced it! (5/5)
"Cruel Sister (Voicians Remix)": Yes, that has as much to do with STS in about how Tokio Hotel with Black Metal, but as a broadening of horizons that fits quite well. I love the original version and that's why it has this remix heavy with me. The electro sounds go here strongly toward House / Electro. In this form, the whole thing may indeed run into a disco and everyone had fun. Unfortunately, the sound bed no longer fits just as the text demanded by melancholy. In the end, so counterintuitive, but inappropriate. (3/5)
"Black Silk (Cop Dicki Remix)": Oh yes, what a highlight! Welcomes you is with apocalyptic trumpets and then come on Eric Fish's distinctive organ into play. Light beats gently caress the song and then increase unexpectedly at an unbelievably horny drop. This is followed by polynuclear Dubstep. Hard, dirty and in this mixture just awesome. This style symbiosis has definitely been good for the band. This version I think almost better than the original and despite the lack of guitars;) (5/5)
"Dowry": Here the essence of the new sounds will again put on display. Electronic sounds in the background, guitar and Eric in the foreground. Add to that a few acoustic guitar racks, drums and a bit of a hurdy-gurdy. STS have in my opinion found in this combination peaked, because by the electronic sounds hardness, cold and gloom, the STS come in their lyrics convey perfectly. This song is about a question of what characteristics we get inherited from our parents. Including delusions and violence. If so fitted 1 to 1 on the album! (5/5)
"Chorea": Another classic and now definitely my new favorite version. The folk instruments are still being felt, but the whole song is constructed epic. Electronic sounds and folk instruments umschmiegen the knarrigen guitars and create an epic widescreen of premium Goth / Folk / Metal .... Oh what I know, but what am I going to call now. STS are simply not too shy to try something new. This went sometimes even wrong, but herewith they hit the bull's eye (5/5)
Conclusion: STS show with the not so inconspicuous EP the current peak of their band development. After the album "dowry" there are again 3 tracks in the new sound and 2 remixes, one of which is however still too ordinary for a STS track then, albeit at a high level. The two classic has freshened managed the band and otherwise should any fan of this STS 2, invest 99.
It's worth it and it will be interesting, where the journey goes next time!
