As a non-professional I have only gained me this lens because I have fun on experimental photography and promised me much of a Fisheye. And indeed, I have already during the first shooting with this lens ideally friends and do not want to miss it. The review of August 2008 I totally agree You have to do only once familiar indeed with the "vision" of the Fish Eyes - best in theory and practice. I'm using it currently mainly for panoramas, preferably cityscapes, etc. make for the bridges, railings, facades, street lights, trees, rivers crooked or curved represented a great frame, or which are mapped itself more or less spherical or concave. But you can of course objects depict distorted surreal and of course all the interiors. If you have got time dealing with it, there are a lot of attractive applications. Rausrechnen will be the effect, in other words: the typical distortion, hardly want, it's just interesting.
Technically the lens is great. The drop in the depth of field at wide-open aperture, I have also observed, but at f 3.2 I've some totally satisfactory for the amateur photographer shooting hinbekommen. In combination with my Canon EOS 50D, the lens behaves just fine. It is made of optical and haptic view a treat. It is, incidentally, comes with a small, practical quiver, a lens hood is firmly mounted (and absolutely necessary - negative and scattered light can be a problem anyway). Therefore, the cap is attached to an adapter, which in turn (pretty tight) sits above the hood and is then removed for photographing. For children play among the amateur photographers a great toy, and for those who want to work with, a quality tool.
