Despite repeated search I am always landed in recent years in the Extreme USB flash drive since it is my opinion, at the price no other stick that is so rapidly with small writes. This time-critical tasks as Linux emergency system are possible and it does not come to a standstill within seconds long because just several files (eg log files) can be written simultaneously. For maximum seq. Read / write rates there are definitely other USB sticks with at least a similar rate, but with small writes the Sandisk Extreme then plays in a different league in its price range.
Although you can read of problems with the system compatibility for the built controller, so working here the extremes sticks with 6 different AMD / Intel / NVidia chipsets under Windows / Linux without any problems together.
As mentioned by other buyers, I also see the slide mechanism as the biggest problem. Basically positive is certainly that one has no protective cap that can be lost, but if a USB connector is slightly heavier than normal, the smooth to slide when inserting the stick becomes a problem. A defective slide there with me but not yet.
