In normal use, it sails between 800 and 900 rev / min and in a config yet doomed to silence, I hear virtually no. It is against my opinion essential to plug in PWM, otherwise it is a true turbine (3000 rev / min, which means it has "under foot"!)
To have tried with the supplied thermal paste stamped "high performance", I advise all the same to apply a worthy of the name ("Arctic Silver Ceramic" in my case), it is still 3 or 4 degrees of earned.
Of course, it's not a "real" massive cooler with heatpipes and company but if you have neither the place and / or budget, this is perfect!
