The Outside gray ring is made of sturdy hard rubber and leaves no damage and marks on my laminate floor with artificial grain surface. The rollers are not too hard for the floor, as has been suggested in a previous review. On the contrary - they are just soft enough so that they roll pleasantly quiet on the ground - they are not so soft that the drivability is adversely beeienflusst.
