rapid digitization with useful results

To scan many old slides and negatives I have decided for the DNT DigiScan TV per 2-in-1 and am well satisfied with a few limitations. The document holder for negative strips and mounted slides are very easy to handle. On the enclosed 2GB memory chip is approximately 2,000 photos can be stored.

The negatives had tended to a bluish cast that slides entspachen the template. As my slides and negatives are partly 50 years old, the result was of course not to compare with photos of today's standards and you have the results then the PC of course extra editing. But since I want to scan more than 2000 photos, was important to me that I can digitize the recordings very quickly. It was going even faster if the device would not hang in between every now and then. Since the on-off switch then stops working, must still be considered for a certain time the power plug.

Unfortunately, the screen does not swivel, so that I always had a tendency when you preview the entire unit back to see the results of the scans sensibly. Too bad also that the display screen during the scan can not be redirected to the PC (the PC is turned on has no access to the memory chip during the scan mode). The display, however, can be connected to the TV.

Operation of the device is in principle easy - on and after selecting the template (slide or negative) started to scan and save the result. While making the change, however, is up to the main menu no longer as intuitive and somewhat confused.

The supplied image processing software helps only minimally for image editing. That to me is not so important because I'm going to leave again scan the best shots by a professinellen scan service providers and post-process.

Benefits:
- The slides and negatives can be digitized quickly.
- The device must not be connected to the PC or Notebook
- Power supply via USB port or plug Nets
- Good workmanship and easy use of the document holder
- Inexpensive device
Disadvantages:
- System crashes
- Bluish scans of negatives
- No setting for color adjustment / white balance on the scanner
- Simple image editing software
- Display is not swivel
- Scan preview only via display and television, not at the PC
- The menu navigation of the scanner could be more user-friendly

Conclusion: well suited for the quick scan. Despite the described disadvantages I am pleased with the results.
