Really nice second album of Dear Reader!

It is one of those albums that you have to grow. At the first listening test one perceives only tiny nuances and finds it a total yet unspectacular, because apart from the fact it all sounds very equal. But as you should if it does not immediately comply with a disgust and shame, always more than just a chance to give albums, then there can be happen that you will be familiar with plates that have a now not so blown away at the beginning. With "Idealistic Animals" I've become quite familiar, I like the instrumentation, I like the song, I like the attention to detail that prevails here obviously, because after the umpteenth listening test, it is actually to explain just that for me the first time all sounded the same. Maybe I was also just distracted or whatever.

Anyway supply Dear Reader (or Cherilyn MacNeil yes now more or less as a solo artist) on their second album again finest, most beautiful, sometimes quiet, sometimes quite brisk indie folk. Every now and then is added a choir and blows everything on something, so that the whole tidy gains pathos, but never so much that it would be unpleasant. In terms of instruments, you do not know where to begin, apparently is really for the recording of this album every instrument there ever been used at least once. And the ease with which Cherilyn MacNeil lets her voice dancing in this changing musical foundation, you have little to lose another word than "ease".

Overall, a worthy successor to "Replace Why With Funny". From my subjective point of view even at least equal, if not a little bit better. "RWWF" was already pretty good but "Idealistic Animals" is somehow experimental, there is more to explore, I like that personally, as I said, a little better. Nevertheless, I feel instinctively that I should restrain myself in conclusion with superlatives. I judge music not objective, because simply not going, but after feeling and my feeling tells me that the album is indeed very great and I can celebrate it much, but really bowled / flashed it took me then ultimately in fact not , not even the umpteenth listening test. Why is that, I can not say exactly, but I guess times that this is a very subjective thing. I already know that I will have every now and then feel like me again Dear Reader to listen when I rummage in my music collection and will then also like to do it, but there will never be times when I will say to myself ".
