Property me in a long time bought a console. Very spontaneous, I did not even planned.
Bin random times gone by to a Wii U Mario Kart 8 and there was in it. And immediately I wanted to have it.
Bought it was not on Amazon, but the conditions were the same, because I still have an additional system sold Wiimote and Nunchuck.
In itself, I'm exclusively PC players. Although I had ne PS2, XBox 1, Xbox 360 but for some time it is worth to me the charge for good hardware that I play on the PC. Since the console games unless they are platform-exclusive, available for the PC as a rule (see GTA 5 announcement for PC), I thought: "Hey, when cool Wii U where you can continue playing with the tablet, the good quality and fun Mario games has (which there are only here) and me all of my childhood (SNES -> I have today still runs) remember, you just have to beat.
Bundle that is fair, you get the Premium Wii U with 32GB memory (expandable via SD card) and Mario Kart 8 to.

Thus one has ever 2 games.
What is also great:
One can use the Wii U gamepad (Tablet) just keep playing, it must not be used for the TV!
Which console is that, please?
Furthermore:
Wii games and software work well, set out in a "Wii Mode" app!
One can also Wiimotes etc. So continue to use the peripheral of Wii with the Wii U.
That really bothered me of the old consoles, which is why I have passed over to PC.
New Console -> old games for a ton if the old console gives up the ghost?
Nintendo is because at least better and makes the Wii U for Wii backwards compatible.
But that's not all. The offer in the shop on older classics for download.
Very exemplary.
Most Wii / U Games not correspond to my age group, but they are witty, well done, a welcome change and worth the money as far as I can tell so far.
This whole "shitty graphics, you buy ne XBO / PS4" - comments can and I will not judge.
Because the people have just the meaning of the Wii U is not understood. Whether the / PS3 generation is part of the Xbox 360 or the new, I think it has special status. She stands out from the monotony both technically (Gamepad) and playful.
And I prefer a few good games with high replay value and keep checking in between (party, karting etc.) always the same.
Otherwise, the console offers capabilities that you just expected. YouTube, Internet browser. Impeccable extent but nothing special. Features that offer other also.
That the console via HDMI / 1080p works is also very great.
Only negatives so far, rather relate to the Wii functions.
The Wii mode is really a Wii mode. I only thought super how to PS1 games on PS2 times -> Insert, faster loading and better graphics (or improvements).
Apparently not. That's a pity. No picture technical improvements.
Otherwise, there is nothing wrong. For party games, fun games and even fans of Nintendo / Mario games is the console hit. The "serious" games are, of course (I think) on the other consoles (ie with a few exceptions) as XBox One / PS4 - which as I said technically, the Wii U is likely attributable to the last generation of consoles.
But not always, it depends on the hardware power. I condemn players who make different preferences / consoles poor and their "faith" before the playful selection make others. Since then I count equal to like my PC components, because then is cleared.
It remains a matter of taste. What more could you play games which features are important to you.
Of course, the Wii U of the 3 consoles of new generation is definitely the Family / child-friendly manner.
You have to also mention, since it put some parents a value on what gets to see her child media (that's important to me with "only" 25 years!).
Originally I wanted to yes only just for fun, for Mario Kart Wii and some old beads, a mini Wii purchase (the small without WLAN), for cheap 150 euros.
When I then saw that anyway all online services are pulped / were and the new Wii U swallows the old games, I thought, oh heck, you only live once, which does not buy one every day.
Now, after more than 1.5 years (I did not at the beginning), which the Wii U already are now (how time flies ...) I also take at times, are some hardware technical improvements already made (teething ??) and also the selection of games is better than at the beginning (up Mario Kart 8 for example.).
I have not regretted the purchase and look forward to the coming years with the one or other good Nintendo / Wii U title, even though my main focus is of course remain with the PC.
I wish all those who give the Wii U a chance (or as I are career changers and no Wii or the like still had) a lot of fun (hopefully common!) Games and entertainment in front of the TV :)
Greetings
Stefan
