Again and again I read negative reviews here because buyers get no or only delivered a useless HD picture. However, this is not related to the device, but the cable reception, or the cable network provider, or the region where the receiver is used. I can 5000 via cable Germany receive a razor-sharp, vivid HD picture (ARD, ZDF, Arte, and the 7 SkyHD channels) here in Trier with the Philips DCR. And this despite a relatively weak signal strength (about 60%, due to cabling inside the house). The workmanship is good, installing a breeze. A Bedinungsanleitung is not required basically because the device makes basically everything yourself. A star deduction there yet, because unfortunately you can not get with this device, the receivable here 239 stations in any order, but simply create a favorite list with a maximum of 99 channels (here is a sort possible). Unfortunately, there is even the possibility of creating a single list of favorites, so that ultimately all the receivable stations can not be accommodated in such a list in the desired order. But biggest shortcoming is the long delay when switching channels. Zapper have here so much fun (especially as the remote control only very slowly reacts and you have to press the buttons firmly). But the bottom line is the receiver deserves the four stars because I previously had no failures or formation of small blocks - an annoying thing that I could not "cast out" my former receiver of Thomson. In direct comparison, the SD Digital channels look much better and with fewer errors.
A strong buy recommendation for cable customers who have been notified as to whether their region is fed in HD perfectly (and who know what they want to see and do not want to only zap through the program ;-)
