Basically, the device looks nice, the cover is apparently made of metal, it is very compact. When closing the drawer you have to pay attention that you can not on the housing forces from above, otherwise the drawer does not close properly, because the housing slightly bends, quite delicate the whole. The USB 3.0 cable is quite short, is perhaps also due to technical reasons (high speed = short cable).
The device logs on to the PC as a USB device is recognized without any problems and needs at least under Win8.1 no separate drivers. Installed is a Sony NEC Optiarc BD5740L drive that runs very quietly. Unfortunately, it is quite slow in reading and breaks even with small scratches on the DVD from. In writing, it is not really fast burn with 2x Blu-ray 25GB takes almost 45 minutes! After the device prospectus 6x Blu-ray can burn, the blanks are also designed for 6x (Sony BD-R). Take with a LG BE14NU40 the same image on the same blanks 9 minutes!
I sent it back, because I have / get that do not have hardly scratched CDs / DVDs. That reminds me, the error correction of this device is not sufficient. Also my machine is too slow, despite USB 3.0 port and alleged 6x burning rate. For people, which is not important all this, the device may however be beneficial and function.
Something weird the packaging- was a flat box labeled "USB 3.0 ODD & HDD", with no brand name or type information, wrapped in a bubble-envelope. One referred to RAMOZZ I found nowhere, only a small subsequently applied sticker on the box that says "Sony". The device itself does not contain any labels bearing a manufacturer or model number. The housing can be clearly but also for plugging an external 2.5 "HDD to use (instead of the optical drive). Could not try, because the closure was covered with a seal. The tester came the change to from the Netherlands , my provider (Sunwood-DE) has deposited an address in Hong Kong, the mail traffic according to come the unit of UK, returned I have an address in Moers ... This Wirrwar perhaps explains the term of> 1 week of the transmission notification (Royal Mail) until the arrival (DHL).
