I got to know this music through Hypnobirthing, a kind Selbsthypnose- or relaxation method for birth. There are suggestions on CD that are stored with the pieces from "Comfort Zone" for this method. Even there I found the background music enormously enjoyable. Rippling melodies with piano and chimes, never intrusive, often so that you have the feeling to know the melody of one of the other pieces, and yet all different.
And even without the suggestion does the CD what it promises: it relaxes me, and it relaxed the rest of my now one year old daughter, the love to fall asleep while listening to this music. Whether it really is because, as I read that Halpern has adjusted the pace and the rhythm of his pieces with about 60 beats / min to a quiet heartbeat? Who knows. But that does not matter ultimately. Worth every penny.
