I thus repaired an old tripod with a defective, directly flanged tripod head.
The 1/4 "side sawed off, put a short metal crosspiece into the hole and cemented the part with Stabilit Express.
Now I can screw on standard tripod heads on the 3/8 "thread.

The screw is made of aluminum, but made of chromed steel.
