We find ourselves again facing a best-of of survival according Mikami (RE1 RE4) see gender in general (with an atmosphere that Silent Hill at times) without ever managing to stand out from models or really scaring ( one chapter on the whole game brought me some chills).
The novelties like infiltration and the ability to hide under beds and in closets are good ideas, but little exploited, see all past the start of the game. So we end up still face a game of action horror atmosphere as does Resident Evil since AR4. Resident 5 and 6 have paid the price for me is The Evil Within the same barrel.
A friendly game when you get used to the idea that it has very original thing (except his scenario which is really good find) but soon sessouffle and adds nothing to the genre. We are very far from the revival of survival-horror as many hoped.
