robust, but not very space-saving, does not work in Japan

I was half a year in Asia and Australia on the way here and had a good companion. Only in Japan (Tokyo) nothing was right and I had to borrow the hostel something else :(
In the other countries (Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam) my journey has worked wonderfully the plug.
