Nietzsche Quotes explained (Paperback)

Customer Review

The title of this book says "Nietzsche Quotes explained," but I just finished reading den, and I have the feeling that it may be useful to prevent potential buyer that the contents of this book nentretient quun very relative link with what the title promises.
Nietzsche is a paradoxical thinker, difficult and misunderstandings about his philosophy are many and widespread. A book that would have selected some of his aphorisms to put them in context and clarify the meaning would have been very useful. This nest unfortunately not what this book, whose author, Marc Halévy, is used most often as dune platform to express his personal dislikes and acrimony (Legard to Freud, psychoanalysis, socialism, communism, religions, of the current society, Sartre, etc. etc.), in short, this is a book, in large part, "off topic".
Mr. Halevy sure, like everyone else, is entitled to his opinions and to express them, but I doubt that anyone who buys a book entitled "Nietzsche Quotes explained" be it in order to know the philosophical or political beliefs of Mr. Halevy.
Furthermore, the author consistently uses the verb "conchier" (... hello class).
This book offers 150 citations (rather well chosen matter) classified thematically, but the problem is that Marc Halévy do 'explains' no - or very rarely - he just comment, and most often used as a springboard for expressing SES views, opinions SES, SES ideas. In other words Laurez and you understand, reading this book you will learn more about Marc Halevy on Nietzsche. This is all the more regrettable that Mr. Halevy had all the skills needed to write a useful book. Missed opportunity, then. Too bad.
