The structure of the server with the board was simple, and was very relaxed. The documentation is very good, the connections are through the large form factor all very accessible. No Rumgefriemel, no toast with other cables. Because the server anyway a big housing has (because of all the HDDs) I wanted an ATX board instead of a Mini-ATX boards or the like selected. However, It is also noticeable here that the slot for the graphics card very close to Liege on various other ports - for server regardless, so I no deduction.
The BIOS seems to conclusively, at least for me (and the need for the server) everything was easy to find and easy to adjust.
The scope of the connectors is very good for my needs. I use an internal SATA port for an SSD as a system disk, three more SATA ports for three HDDs with 2 TB. The e-SATA port is ideal for a docking station for a backup. The large number of USB ports is perfect for connecting printers, Webcams, a Bluetooth dongle, and then is enough for things like an Arduino etc. left. Since there is nothing to complain about! The 1 Gbit network connection works fine, and is fully ausreizbar. It provides the access to the HDDs in RAID with 124 MB per second - what more could you ask :-).
On Ubuntu and everything FreeBDS no nachbasteln runs out of the box, necessary.
A possible vulnerability (but have no reason for a point deduction, because this vulnerability so pretty all current boards) is the heatsink on the Northbridge. In server mode I there had a temperature of 55 ° Celsius and above, while the rest of the hardware had less than 35 °. An exchange and an installation of a Alpenföhn Ötzi reduced the temperature at a constant 43 °, performance, power consumption and greatly increased service life. Installation is relatively easy - simply disconnect the old cooler, apply some cooling paste and clamp it with the bracket to Alpenföhn cooler. I can only recommend.
Last but not least: In carton lived a spider. In one of the cardboard corners was a little cocoon, the Pokes the spider jumped out and dashed right behind my shelf. Since then I have not seen her. Whether the spider sat for the production in China in the box, or is boarded until the Amazon warehouse in Regensburg, I do not know. Something strange but that was already ... but no PC or server-construction without surprises ;-).
