So here my experience
Sound quality: If you record a lot of noise at a wedding reception or in a noisy environment, the microphone does what it should. It takes hold of this crash and, thanks to the automatic recording in the Nex 7 quite well.
But if you want normal comments or fine noise record, the microphone is worse than useless. Wind noise is despite windshield very present and also the decoupling for Nex 7 is rather poor. Coming eg during the recording of the connection cable, you can hear this on the recording. The sound is not better than the microphones in the Nex 7. It rushes much more and the sound is muffled.
Then I tested the microphone with an Olympus recorder. Behold, it brings forth but a relatively good sound. That it was but designed especially for the accessory shoe of the Nex 7, it is here just a waste of money.
Handling: What the Sony engineers there have only thought? Since you buy a microphone separately for the accessory shoe of the Nex 7 and then there must be wired to the microphone input. What is this nonsense? You also have to turn on the microphone separately. If you forget that, you have no sound. Then the microphone needs a battery. Why not get the power on the accessory shoe? Many questions that not even Sony probably an answer knows.
Conclusion: I give 2 stars. One for which the Nex 7 professional looks and that you can connect the microphone and other recording devices, where the tone then sounds relatively well. For sound improvement on the Nex 7 it has more than one star.
Tip: I have then, is to try everything from time, a small Ansteckmokrofon by KING for a mere 4 Euros added myself. This not only has a better sound, it does not need batteries and you can attach directly to the person who commented. In addition, you can make the microphone free of wind noise by drawing a simple coat over it.
