The manual is very scarce, a lot is not explained. 3 experiments were necessary to load the supplied CD-Instal down, so it only worked at the 3rd minute, I can not verify. On the other hand, I do not need the software because I make the image processing on the i-Mac. The first slide scans showed all on the same place on a small black circle. I then approached me immediately to the Customer Service in D and received prompt the Council to clean with the supplied cleaning rod the scan area, what use (the contamination was gone).
Otherwise, this unit well. During the scanning process, I put already the next slide in the bracket, the scan is so fast that a smooth work flow is given. But I do not see me at the pictures, but then charging the scanned slides from the SD card to the PC, there I create order through all kinds folder and image processing. The small screen on the device can in any case not with the quality of representation with the PC monitor keep up, so I'll take just also no setting changes in the exposure of the scanned slide before.
But the picture quality is in any case the quality of the Dia significantly. On the one hand corresponds the image quality with the age and quality of the optics of the then receiving device (the technical development of photographic technology is a conscious), on the other hand it also depends on the type of framing of the slides on. All recent, ie since 1995, stuck in glassless CS frame, lead to acceptable scan results. Those even older date in glass frames I have to "to frame" since the vitrification the slides had to be half-blind.
In summary, it must be confessed that it indeed comes to the old photographs of family members, friends, etc. to get. The most expensive scanners can not equalize the qualitative shortcomings of the former record and the "Storage consequences", one can on the scanned slides therefore not create today's standards.
For the targeted purpose, however, the device is a very reasonable and practicable and cost-effective solution.
