Seasick Steve, real name Steve Wold was born sometime in the '40s in Oakland. He comes from broken families. When he was four years old, his parents separated, with 14 he tore out of home, went about as Hobo and chatted with odd jobs, but also landed several times in prison. As a child he learned to play the guitar and so it was that he appeared imUmfeld known bluesmen repeatedly and helped out. In the '90s he settled as a studio musician and tried his hand as producer (he produced among others the first two albums by Modest Mouse). Steve Wold, who had always been traveling a lot in his earlier years and had frequent change of residence, settled after a heart attack in the 2000s with his Norwegian wife in their home. Only at the age of 60 years he took in 2004 his first album. Together with the Swedish backing Level Devils appeared the album Cheap. Two years later he released a solo album titled Dog House Music. In the UK it reached particular popularity through his appearance in the New Year's Eve show Jools Holland, where he played three titles. In 2007, he was then one of the most successful Festival artists and was awarded the British MOJO Award for Breakthrough Act for his musical breakthrough. With some delay, his success hit then also reflected in the charts. In early 2008 reached Dog House Music in the Independent charts 2nd place and in the official album charts place 47. What makes him so unique in today's world makes are his songs which deal mainly with his hobo-time and own experiences and autobiographical stories tell. Bright Lights, the Lord !!!
