Steve Earle has the blues ...

The US singer / songwriter Steve Earle (born 1955 in Virginia) has been active for more than 30 years and is located in the musical field of "Alternative Country, Country Rock and Blues".
His friendship with 'Townes Van Zandt' has left its mark in many of his albums. His personal life is marked by a critical distance to the actually existing US system, but also by drugs and alcohol. And also "women" with him the past six decades ... after all, he brings it to the record number of 7 (seven!) Marriages.

The current album "Terra Plane" is perhaps not really convince some listeners ... it's just a little 'different' - it is Steve Earle's late discovery of the blues. In an interview he cites as examples: Howlin 'Wolf, Canned Heat and early ZZ Top.
Granted: No, Steve Earle has reinvented the Blues do not - but on "Terra Plane" he documented that the Blues in the 21st century still has its place.
My scan tips: "Better Off Alone" and especially "The Tennessee Kid" - a driving boogie in prime 'Canned Heat' fashion.

Conclusion: For me another impressive album of Steve Earle ... different, but fully worth discovering!
