I would now go so far as to say that it is the ultimate The Human League album in "Credo". Of course, "Dare" is the absolute masterpiece and "Hysteria" a grandiose pop record. Both indestructible and at least that's just called not to dethrone. "Credo" but spans an ingenious way the whole spectrum of the band, while remaining completely independent, which can be attributed not only to the contemporary version of I Monster, but in particular on the songwriting and the contained small "contrasts" which keep coming up and so typical of the band.
So remember "Night People" at pre-Dare, in "The Stars Start To Shine" I feel strangely at "Reproduction" is reminiscent, however, with the two ladies. "Privilege" Travelogue brings to mind, "Sky" has a beautifully melancholy mood which is reminiscent of "Hysteria". "Get Together" has "Crash" -typical songwriting structures and is one of my favorites. "Single-Minded" well, maybe the "daring" ("Dare") track on the CD. Even the song "Into the Night", which is still the least like me, he remembers micht very much of "Together in Electric Dreams", I really like.
Although I looked forward "Credo" by listening to "Night People" with conflicting expectations, so I did not hear the album "blue-eyed" and without bias, was the spark quickly. "Credo" is addictive and I hear for months almost nothing else. Believe it or not: For weeks I each morning buzzes immediately after waking up, another song from "Credo" around in my head, and here already the whole album was abgefrühstückt. Oh yes, "Night People" I love now!
It is incredible that Human League have managed after 10 years break, to bring themselves so well to the point and to create such a beautiful, marked by grandiose and especially characteristic songwriting album. "Secrets" was certainly good, compared to "Credo" but remained the typical League feeling something on the track. And let's be honest: The Interludes were not really needed, even more disturbing for my taste.
That "Credo" not a great success is granted, this is so bad and unjust as well as rationally comprehensible: "Old" Human League fans may perhaps first react cautiously and can be possibly even by (incomprehensible to me) Negative reviews scare , And new fans can be very difficult to win, there is yet another of me not called neo-synth-pop bands that experienced a much greater hype and thus attract a larger clientele.
I want to now but not whine and rejoice just keep on this excellent record you should listen rather than to criticize them. I for one think after about 20 times just listening (and increasingly) good and have been able to a few other people abgewinnen laudatory comments.
