Apart from "Fancy Pants" I have already read each SEP novel and am a big fan of hers! My two favorites are so far "This Heart Of Mine" and "Call Me Irresistible" and I have so much desired to see accrues on top form again in "The Grest Escape" Mrs. Phillips. Unfortunately that did not happen ... I was rather disappointed by TGE tends, perhaps but that is simply well at my high expectations. Would this book come from another author, I would possibly have been completely thrilled and would have given it 5 stars) What I missed was the usual SEP humor, the sex appeal, the complexity of the characters and the deep development of the love story. I had consistently though all the characters sympathetic, but they are to me all remained somewhat alien to the very end. You could not really understand why Lucy and Panda felt attracted to each other at times; much was happening too fast and too hasty and JAA, even a little too carelessly. The 2. Background love story I found at times fascinating, although this definitely come too short !!!! Nevertheless, I would recommend to anyone SEP supporter to purchase "The Great Escape" - it was definitely worth it, as any novel by her. One should, however, his expectations runterschrauben a little before one begins to read.
Conclusion: SEP novels are like pizza and sex: even if they are bad, they are still pretty good: D
