After a long and extensive internet research I came across the ES Compare LT-71, which is traded yes in some places as a kind of secret. And since this was the only one in the portfolio of Panasonic, which roughly corresponded to my old razor, I ordered the razor on Amazon.
Scope of supply:
The shaver comes with a clamoring working cleaning station, an AC adapter, a user manual, and a blade oil Stoffbeutelchen Transport.
First Impression:
When unpacking, I noticed immediately that the unit is much lighter compared to the indirect predecessor. The plastic makes a little less high-quality impression and in the rubber of the case was also saved, so that the razor can just slip in the wet shave ever. Here I do not have a rubberized shelf for the thumb as she had my old razor. The display has a modern appearance and is illuminated with LEDs, are, however, only the most essential information price. The battery level is displayed in segments of 20%. This is sufficient in itself, but when 20% indicated it would sometimes be nice to know whether enough juice for another shave is present or if the battery needs to be charged. Here I would like to see a display in 10% increments, as I had with my old razor.
The device has an on-off switch that can be secured with a lock function to prevent accidental switching. There is also an extendable longhair trimmer, but it seems only suitable for smaller trim work me. The noise is a bit strange, as with all Panasonic shavers, me personally it does not interfere.
Technically appears in the development compared to the ES 8168 did not have too much to have. Both devices shave with 13,000 vibrations per minute, the knife blocks are identical and the shearing blades per se appear to be the same. Here I was hoping of finding an improvement. Unfortunately, it appears that the ES LT-71 only a cheaper option of ES represents in contemporary garb 8168. That is the impression I was also confirmed in practical tests.
Shaving:
Dry shaved the ES LT-71 or less, but has, like most other razor also, his difficulties in problem areas such as the neck and chin. Here you have to very often go through a site, to obtain an acceptable result. But even with the cheeks repeatedly driving over them is necessary.
Much better in my opinion is the wet shave with shaving foam or gel. Here the razor its strengths. Upper lip and cheeks are very smooth and really feel at least directly after shaving as a blade to shave. Neck and chin are against problematic, there remain with me despite repeated Drüber driving in different directions noticeable stubble standing. The overall result, I would say that while he does not reach a sword, but at least in the wet shave close. However, this requires a lot of stamina. I need a good shave about 8 minutes, with the budget established by Panasonic 3 minutes per shave, I can not go with the best intentions. Nevertheless, the battery lasts a good week. But no later than the afternoon I feel on the cheeks again the first stubble. For a wet shave with a blade that was with me in the evening the case.
Perhaps more noteworthy that the shaver unlike the devices of other manufacturers will not work with the AC adapter connected. This makes sense from a safety point because you can always use it in the shower or in the bathtub. However, this also means that if the battery is not even just resort to the power outlet and the appliance with a defective battery also can not continue to operate. Annoying in conjunction with the cleaning station I find the fact that the battery is always loaded, even if you want to only perform a cleaning or drying. This should not necessarily have a positive effect on the battery life. With my old razor you could still choose that the battery is not charged. But perhaps the manufacturer is not at all anxious that the user extends the life of the appliance considerably by battery care. In any case, the use of the cleaning station is an expensive fun. A two-pack cartridges will cost depending on the provider on the Internet 10 to 15 euros. With a recommended useful life of 30 days that is quickly 60 per year, the draufgehen for cleaning cartridges. However, it can easily clean the shaver with soap and water. But you should not forget after oiling.
Conclusion:
The Panasonic ES LT-71 is a razor that for the price of 99, - a decent, though not dazzling delivers shave. Especially in the wet shave in conjunction with shaving cream and enough perseverance the result is good. However, the shaver can already systemic not perform miracles. Anyone who wants a shave, which corresponds in terms of thoroughness of a razor blade, will not be happy with this unit (possibly with an electric shaver and general). Even those who value high-quality feel, might look better for another razor. Me he has not completely convinced, therefore three stars.
