Before anything else, I want to clarify that if the contents of the book had been a tad more surprising, more original, I would probably mark the fifth star. Indeed, the beautiful writing of this novelist is more enjoyable. This is the story of Ajay and Birju, two Indian brothers whose family emigrated to the United States in the 70 At that time, Indian immigration in this country is marginal, so it is a privilege for this family discover the "New World." Birju, the eldest and a little "star" of this family after the Indian upper middle class is promised a great future; but fate decided otherwise. It is therefore his younger brother, who has always lived in the shadow of Birju, which faces a difficult day, between a grieving mother and a father in the throes of alcoholism. In addition, living in a country culturally poles apart from his native language with a deficit can only complicate the situation at the base, already very delicate ... I would also like to report that I find the previous reviews hard because even though knowing that the author spent ten years writing this novel (the time it takes, for example, for each Donna Tartt its extraordinary novels), could signal a more convoluted novel, more complex; the fluidity and smoothness of each line of this opus compensates, in fact and in my opinion, this lack of originality.
