To fully charge a few hours are required depending on capacity and residual capacity of the battery. The charge current for AA batteries is a value of about 450 mA over the typical values for normal charging of such batteries. The Varta LCD desktop charger is thus formally a quick charger. However, the values are not the very high charging currents and correspondingly short charging times an ultra fast charger (like the Varta LCD Ultra Fast Charger) comparable.
The charging process is illustrated by a small LCD display with unpleasant blue color based on primitive bar. Relevant readings (about voltage, current, charging time or capacity) can therefore not be displayed. Therefore, the display also allows no conclusions about the status of the batteries.
The Varta LCD desktop charger, alas, has no function for unloading or refreshing batteries.
The Varta LCD desktop charger recognizes it when wrong or defective batteries were inserted. In this case, the indicator flashes and charging is prevented. Unfortunately, this recognition is very sensitive, so that older used batteries be easily identified as defective, although they can still be easily used and recharged with other chargers.
