Simple equipment for quality purists

The SR608 is Onkyo speak aloud the entry level for THX certified model.
The functions are ansich pretty straightforward (you might say spartan), which in most cases for a normal living room or bedroom home theater is but actually completely sufficient. I miss at least nothing and everything he does, it happens with the usual high quality Onkyo. Here was saved for this really good price so fortunately in the largely superfluous (for normal users) Hyper functions and not to the quality of implementation.

* You get super THX Select 2 Sound (ie for space to about 50 square meters) for 7.2 channels + 2 additional ports / channels for the optional front high or -Wide to extend the front sound area or Zone 2, eg hi-fi speakers listening to music can be assigned. The receiver can play DTS-HD track current Blu Rays.
* There are useful upscaling to 1080p, if you need it.
* Then you have even a simple version of Audissey Raumausmessung (2EQ) that adjusts the sound for up to three different seating / listening positions (many more will be in the living room üblicherwese eh not have).
* The different inputs can be assigned to setting sets, ie you can then click a button between the sources and the associated settings (for example, cable TV, Blu Ray player, etc.) change.
* It is a multifunction remote control there, but about which I really can not say much because I do not use them in this sense.

I have structured the whole that Blu Ray Player (Sony BDP-S760), HD cable TV and go XBox360 in the receiver and from there the image on my 55 "Sony Bravia KDL55-X4500 and the sound from a Teufel Theater 100 5.1 set are reproduced and I must say I am very excited.

There are really only two small things that I have noticed negative:
* A direct (analog) TV antenna / cable input in vain. If, however, in times of digital receiving care with set-top box the least ... I would just simply like my old Sega connected directly and not via the TV. :)
* When you turn on an HDMI source (eg the Blu Ray player) it takes a while until it "recognized" is. But that is probably not the receiver but rather the HDMI handshake process. Nevertheless, I wanted to mention it.

In summary we can say:
Anyone looking for a simple designed, THX certified receiver as a hub for all its equipment and high-quality amplifier for a multi-channel home theater system and more important for the quality than frills features, which is exactly in the right place. In my view, perfectly (thanks to THX-level accuracy even larger among them) to recommend for the living room and fully subject to the above considerations for this low price.
