WW2 again?
Yes even the 5th part plays as part 1-3 again in the greatest war in history. The looks of a drawback as, since the subject matter is already so "Swallowed" and others are happy as a Cheshire cat. I must admit here that I tend to be more to the second variety gehöre- however have some claim it. Just WW2 is insufficient, but the way is important to me. I am interested in history and find it more interesting to play events that actually took place at least in nature have-of course not the way it records the game but just "with a real background".
On several fronts plays of war!
CoD WaW plays on the one hand from an American perspective in the fight against the Japanese, and on the other hand from the perspective of a soldier of the red Armee. So you play more or less alternately through the levels.
It starts on the American side as a prisoner of the Japanese, which is of course so much one may well tell of 3 years after release, not many years to come. A long tutorial you know of Batman anyway not therefore go immediately into the action. You can give the best in the practice. The American war playable neck starts here and ends in the fight and Peleliu, an important location of the Japanese.
On the Russian side to play a survivor in Stalingrad and by fighting over the story of the Russian counter-attack to the Reichstag in Berlin.
Was Like You've Never Experienced Before
This saying on the back of the game expresses exactly what is happening in the game itself. Bullets shred one around the ears, grenades explode in close and tear the leg of your collaborator with the same way. Banzai (fast Japanese troops for close combat) the sharpness of their bayonet want to check and who is the test object? Of course, the player, who else. On the other side of the world think the Nazis not dream of giving up without a fight but do the players with their technologically far better weapons than those of the Japanese, the "About" life difficult. Call of Duty WaW finally make it with what's with 1-3 only partially successful: perfect to put the Second World War in scene, so that the player is not a second, "watching" but is constantly in the middle inside.
Loner before!
So good is the single-player campaign and of course the Koopkampagne what is the same, so little convinced of CoD really important about multiplayer. From the maps I like personally just 2-3 and are compared with the predecessors / successors rather unspectacular. Likewise, the multiplayer gameplay is himself. Everything seems listless, dull and the atmosphere, which was so perfectly in single player mode is hardly to bear.
Only "Nazi Zombies" is in multiplayer real fun even though it is there in turn particularly problematic to find players because of the mode do not exist in the USK version (evil Germany).
A closer look! or maybe not?
Graphically CoD WaW can not the level of its predecessor Modern Warfare keep but that does not mean that it looks bad. 2008 was quite in he upper class graphics and much sees the game especially the smoke out really great. Although added slightly muddy textures and some slight detail poverty but there is to be noted also positive aspects. The water looks the good and also the facial expressions of Charaktäre, whether the important ally or the simple German / Japanese "cannon fodder" -It looks really great. In short, that what is important for the game makes it really good but it could have been better.
BAAAAAAM!
In the soundscape World at War shows its true strength, it crashes at all corners and edges, and the war will also sound technically set in a new level. Especially with a 5.1 system, the soundscape is just amazing. The weapons sound a realistic and true to the original and also grenades etc. have the desired bang. Since real nothing to be desired.
CONCLUSION: In single player Call of Duty World at War for me until today (2011) is unbeaten. It brings hellishly fun and exciting especially since the battlefields not regular like DDay and co are also the more underrated Pacific war is discussed. Unfortunately, there is also the CoD offshoot with the disappointing multiplayer, which I so bad find, however, because that has a lower priority for me. For those who are interested in the Second World War, should have not played and the multiplayer may not disturb I recommend it with a clear conscience!
