Sings songs of Latin American who wants ....

I admire the voice and the path of Florent Pagny from his early songs.
I also admire the artist and how the man manages his public life.
I am particularly saddened by having to criticize his latest album "Gracias a la Vida" in which he tries to sing 11 Latin American songs, archiconnues.

It turns out that I am also Latin American, and I always was immersed in the music of my continent, which I'm really proud.

The Latin American music was almost unknown in France, there are about thirty of years.
It took the film Wenders' Buena Vista Social Club ", some dAlmodóvar movies and the good will of some famous singers (Plácido Domingo, Juan Diego Flórez ,, among others), for the French are beginning to look more closely or to appreciate the melodic richness, rhythmic, sensual and sentimental Latin American songs.

Admittedly, unlike the French songs, whose center of interest is at the level of words, Latin American songs (like the Italian and Spanish), place the artistic value in the actual musical message (without neglecting words).
Thus, when singing a Latin American song, the singer's voice must express a wide range of shades, a great expressiveness and a certain voice quality to achieve convey feelings and sensations even if the listener does not know the language Spanish.

Florent Pagny has, indisputably, voice quality it takes to sattaquer to Latin American songs.
Unfortunately Pagny can not seem to grasp the "style" Latin American.
His interpretations his flat, without expression, without nuances, without feelings, lifeless

Too bad, for someone like him who deserves the success that lont followed throughout his career.
Perhaps he has been badly advised: do not sing songs that Latin American wants.
It takes a deep identification with the people and culture Latin American, to understand how we should interpret their songs.

But hey, nobody is perfect.
Forget this album and remember all the others who have done us so much good.
