Actually, I hear since my early teens - and that was in the 80s - Rock in all its various versions and options. And I have a good friend with whom I can talk very well about music, although it is more on indie and everything goes in the right direction. In one of the conversations, we discovered one of our common denominator: B. Springsteen! Because I've got everything from him, he asked me to play for him a few things ... and it has very well-liked. In turn he said to me: "If you like that kind of music and you like even modern things, then I have something for you!" When we met the last time he played me before TGA and The Hold Steady. And I found both really good, even if - as I thought - it's not my way. Too much "indie" and also a little too "punk". Nevertheless, I have two CDs each of TGA and THS ordered and they listened to in silence.
And after repeated listening to "American Slang" and The '59 Sound "it worked for me" CLICK made. "Although The Gaslight Anthem have a little punk, a little indie, and even a little (B. Springsteen) folk-rock ! in their music, but above all, they have something special.! your own style and a lot of emotions feelings related to that which causes the music when it's just insanely good, deep, honest and absolutely "modern" music The but it still manages to have such an old "rocker" me again be young and to think back to the good in the music !!!
Sounds too dramatic? Might be! But who knows the feeling of the good music - even if only a personally like - can trigger in a who knows what I mean! And in addition to a few other artists - the list of which would distract from the real issue here only - do it with me at the moment only TGA! ... More praise can not.
I then bought me to this first album ... and has also not been disappointed. It's rough, "punky" and not as mature as the other two, but is also great! But I am also come from the wrong side. Therefore, let it be me see that! If this had been my first album, but it would on my understanding of the band change anything. Even though I could understand it if followers of the first hour, the latter plates would call commercial. But for my taste it is the right move towards a truly great band that - if it do justice to courses in the world and on the radio running really good music would - could be counted among the greats.
But such honest, homemade and ingenious "Rock" music has stopped running already long in the radio world.
Please forgive me my view of things and to form his own opinion ... but The Gaslight Anthem are worth definitely times to risk an ear and - like me - from his own, retracted rail come off a bit. It is worthwhile extends visibility and gives you a good feeling. Thank you for your understanding ... Hello!
