Mass Effect 3 - N7 Collector's Edition (Video Game)

Customer Review

Since the first part, I'm a big fan of the Mass Effect series. But due to many more negative reviews, especially concerning the end, I did not hesitate long with the purchase. After I had but it borrowed a few days from a friend, I now have even decided to buy the Collectors Edition. And although I can understand the negative reviews of many fans quite. But more on that later.

Ever warning: Who has not played the first two parts so far, this should first catch. Not only that, there are excellent title, the action itself is linked almost seamlessly with the predecessor and continues to display properly corresponding knowledge. In addition, since many decisions that you met in the predecessors, have an impact on this part, remains one else even some refused to fun.

So you have to start the choice whether to create a new character or his ME2-stretching imported. This time the way the level of imported character Unlike ME2 retained, but you can select a new class if necessary and distribute skill points again. The level cap was increased from 30 to now (at least) 60. In addition, the number of stages has been increased with the respective capabilities of 4 to 6. Although one must choose between two different upgrades each with the last 3 stages Always.

If one has created his personal Sheppard goes also already going with the plot. This builds half a year after the events of the second part. Sheppard has returned to the Alliance, but needs to pay for his collaboration with Cerberus stand trial. But as life goes suddenly knocks a well-known enemy of the portal to Earth and overruns this formally. Sheppard can just escape so even with the Normandy and is now facing the thankless task to unite the various nations of our galaxy to fight the reaper and initiate the decisive counter-attack. Not much more I do not want to take the story in advance. As usual in the series we have again the possibility that problems in an exemplary manner or reckless tackle. Of course, I chose the second option, and finally the opponent is tough and ruthless. Normally, my bad conscience keeps this radio silence (is also just a game ^^), but this time the developers have some very emotional moments actually managed to conjure me a thick lump in her throat. Respect! Unfortunately, one must say that the choices have diminished somewhat in the comparison to its predecessors. Often it was even very long cutscenes without a single dialogue option. Too Bad.

Of course the game is not all dialogues, but especially also from fighting. For very many fights. The emphasis on this even falls a bit bigger than the already very action-heavy second part. I personally had the balancing at the first part, after all like a little better. This is ultimately a matter of taste but. The battle system is similar to this strong part 2. most interesting innovation is probably the Kinect integration. On fidgeting any patterns of behavior are (thankfully) omitted. It is instead to speech recognition. So you can issue commands such as switching weapons or the use of certain abilities of his group or individual members. This goes smoothly and ensures that you do not have to constantly change in the radial menu. So the battles take place much more smoothly. However, you really have to ask the question why here only support Kinect and integrate for the voice commands not headsets (such as in EndWar) developers. But well somehow Microsoft has indeed bring to the man, even if ME3 for sure is not a sole reason to buy its Kinect. "Loosening" as Makofahrten or minigames hacking are completely absent. Some wirds maybe even happy, I finds bad. Change there rather rare, even one may go into a Riesenmech, but ultimately also runs out only on fighting. Another level is strongly reminiscent of Tron, very visually appealing. Playful but rather bleak.

The biggest new feature is the multiplayer. This is strongly reminiscent of the Horde mode from GoW. You play cooperatively with up to four people and have to defend a relatively small area against several waves of enemies. By the way you have often done, as hacking computer terminals for time and little side quests. After the fights you gain experience points and level up your multiplayer Chara on. This works the same way as in single player. Made me a whole lot of fun.

Graphics and sound are at a similar level as its predecessor. The figures seem just a tad bit more detail and the planet surfaces await with some very impressive panoramas, for example, with huge Reapers or a gigantic sandstorm. Unfortunately, the interior areas, as with the first two parts, visually monotonous and unexciting advised. The music is once again terrific. The spirits are well again divided about the German Synchro. I am broadly satisfied with it.

Now we come to the end hotly debated. I will here not really spoilers large, yet precaution hiermal a

SPOILER WARNING

The end of an ordinary pipe, well, hastily cobbled together and quite simply incomplete. The decisions taken previously are completely irrelevant here, many questions remain open easily. And the very last sequence, after the credits, all things work together again adabsurdum completely. This is reminiscent of Story Twists ala "Hey that was all really just a dream."
Overall very disappointing and I have long wondered how I let this be included in the rating. Since the game is technically abolut top and a lot of fun, I leave it in a star deduction. Feels like there are almost two.

SPOILER END

Now even the Adicional extras and presentation of the Collectors Edition. The game will appear in Papschuber. In the game itself is (in noble metal shell), and (again in its own cardboard cover) the extras. Which consist of an N7 patch, a postcard with Normandy motif, a (English) Comic, in which it comes to Aria and their struggle against the Reaper Omega, as well as an art book. Where there are not only beautiful concept drawings, but also very interesting background information about the design of the characters, environments and spaceships. But you should have previously played through the game, so as not to spoil the one or other surprise. However, the lyrics are completely in English. Who does not speak this language, should think very well before buying the collector's edition, if you prefer not to refer the download content (additional mission and character, as well as some weapons and equipment) on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Priced as you would have roughly the same level come, if not a little cheaper.
