The finish is clean and makes a very high-quality impression, visually the headset looks very chic. The ear cushions are very soft but seem very empflindlich to be against mechanical effects. Especially for the transport you should think a protection, because unfortunately no carrying case is included. It is also a pity that it can not replace the cable, it is firmly connected to the headset. The cable acts quite short at first glance, for mobile use but this is adequate, only the remote control depends almost next to the head, making it very inconveniently located.
After placing you only feel a slight pressure, properly set of headphones does not slip well, you did not feel that he "loose" sits, the earpads press, however unevenly, so you get the feeling that they are above no longer presses down the pressure is stronger, much less likely to be not the pressure. The isolated effect outward I would describe as moderate. Even with small ears you come inside to the inner padding.
The sound on Cowon J3 without sound preset sobering neutral, a bit dry, the stage is lacking something in depth, and you sit very far away, because the volume is very low. In order to obtain the same volume as with most in-ears, I have to raise to 10 the volume on the scale of 1-40. Here you will experience this with some models in combination with the Cowon J3 repeatedly, regardless of the impedance, such as also the Bose IE2. Once you have the player activates the BBE engine for headphone mode, a powerful sound sets, the bass is not an exaggeration but quite meaty, treble come out sharp, but unfortunately I have also noticed a slight hiss. With this sound I can live basically, otherwise I would have returned the headphones again.
Ultimately, I decided for a 3-star rating, two stars I have withdrawn for:
- Lack of transport bag,
- Resulting cable not replaceable in case of breakage to expensive and lengthy repairs
- (?!) Earpads not interchangeable, at least I could not find a spare parts in various shops
- Seat does not appear optimal me
CONCLUSION: As a travel companion good headphones, thoroughly recommended.
Who is further looking, could still throw a look at the Audio Technica ATH-PRO700MK2, this would have been my second favorite.
Update 30.03.2013: After a while, use, I would like to highlight three things:
- You sweat even in cool temperatures very quickly under the headphones.
- As long as you sit still or is running slow, this headset is very convenient, but if you move a little more, then he slipped it very easily, this disturbs but very.
- That the ears do not quite fit under the shells, because they come up against the interior upholstery and because the ear lobe rests on the Ohpolster, created after a while wearing an uncomfortable feeling.
I leave the assessment still at 3 stars, it has, as it were changed from 3+ to 3.
