Already in the seventies of the last millennium I was (initially secret) fan of Smokie who still Smokey were called at the first release of their second album "Changing All The Time", but pull so the displeasure of some Motown stars called Smokey Robinson should of had something about it that a rock band gave himself his first name as a band name. With the single "If You Think You Know How To Love Me" and the album "Changing All The Time" in this country has until now enduring success story of Smokey, umm, Smokie started. In an existing from the producer Mickie Most and the songwriters Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman success team indeed could not really go wrong. Characteristic of Smokie were then the mainly acoustic guitar and perfect polyphonic singing worn songs that besides "If You Think You Know How To Love Me" and "Do not Play Your Rock'n'Roll To Me" another song would have had this album hit single potential, especially the title track. At first many still verschriehen as a teen band, Smokie have earned the respect of older fans quickly. For me, remains "Changing All The Time" Smokies best album, which was re-released remastered excellent along with everyone else Smokie albums from the early 1975 to 1982, with Chris Norman as lead singer a few months ago and enriched with bonus tracks!
Smokie with Terry Uttley as the only member of the original lineup today there is still what is now but sounds more like one of the numerous and nameless Oldie bands, was at that time 35 years ago soon and a really really good band!
