Weighing in at just 120 gr and dwarf size of 9,4cm x 5.8cm x 2cm (with the lens retracted), the S2800 is certainly one of the smallest digital cameras on the market. And precisely because of its low profile, it is just right for me: It fits perfectly into any pocket and is already 2 seconds after power-up ready for use. Thus the spontaneous snapping is really fun.
The operation is - very intuitive created - as with all Niko models. However, there are not really many settings, but this should not be surprised at the price. It makes but really enjoy playing around with a total of 26 creative filters and 31 post-effects.
Even HD movie shooting is possible with the S2800, but we must of course also do not expect any feats. Here is also the fun factor in the foreground rather than that one might expect Hollywood-results. At family parties and game nights with friends but I have already held one or two memorable scene for posterity ;-)
What could still improve with Nikon designers, is the grip of the housing.
Although the plastic case is quite stable, but much too smooth. At distinctive handle points a rougher surface (possibly rubber nubs) would definitely be desirable!
My conclusion: For newcomers to digital photography, the S2800 is the right model, as well as for spontaneous clippers who simply want to maintain only the moment and are not looking for the perfect image. Who needs more detailed settings, should rather go to the higher-priced compact models or equal to establish a full-fledged digital camera.
