Britpop is not dead, it matures. And like a good wine with the time is getting better, so it is with some musicians. Coldplay certainly belong to and who like to think once of teenage music in Britpop, is totally wrong with Coldplay: For a "teen band" they sound much too mature, so we are back to the comparison with the wine. Coldplay have been hailed by the British media with the predecessor "Parachutes" in view 5 million sold CDs as a potential superstar, so they have to "A Rush of Blood to the Head" go one better placed. It is more complex than Parachutes, less accessible and even bombastic - which anyway is a trend at the time, which is probably because of the current market weakness? From the songs flowing a melancholy atmosphere, they are fragile all, nice and level. Although one must not be possible from the first notes fooled if they wish (and mostly they want their live performances), then play the guys from Coldplay also aggressive, fast-paced rock! Coldplay in a word? Perhaps "Guitar Songs with melodies", though these are three words, but the meeting is probably best. Add to this the sensitive voice of Chris Martin, it is plaintive, almost bitter. His lyrics are melancholy, but can also - as in "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face" - bring smile in the truest sense of the song the audience. Each of the eleven songs has a climax, each has great melodic power. Thus, "A Rush of Blood to the Head", a plate of a piece, great!
