There are quite a few retrospectives by Billy Joel. There are the Piano Man Single Best Of, which can not do justice to the work of Billy Joel 80-minute course. Then there's Greatest Hits 1, 2 and 3. The Greatest Hits 1 & 2 which cover the period to 1985, are somewhat too short and the Greatest Hits 3 little too lush. The 36 songs of Essential Collection has found an almost perfect way with respect to the early years of Billy Joel. Finally Represented are on a Best Of Everybody Loves You Now, Streetlife Serenader, Miami in 2017 (one of his biggest Live Kracher) and All For Leyna. For now but also songs of Category B as Modern Woman or You're My Home. Baby Grand I could never suffer and Leave A Tender Moment Alone is quite nice, but is not necessarily. Completely incomprehensible is why in my opinion the following 5 compelling classics are not represented: -Only The Good Die Young (was previously on all Best Ofs) -Prelude / Angry Young Man, one of his greatest classics, usually heard at the beginning of a CD -pressure -Captain Jack -Scenes From An Italian Restaurant Apparently this is not noticed any. In an oeuvre of just 12 studio albums, it should not be so difficult to make a proper choice of songs actually. The running time of 2 CDs is of course limited, but rather I have the same maturity perhaps only 34 instead of 36 songs, if it agrees the selection. Since helps restore only your own compilation. As an introduction to the Essential Collection is nevertheless well served. It should also be pointed out that this is of the equipment the cheap version of the Essential Collection and there are other variants with partially different songs. The cheap version can be seen on the silver cover and the superimposed CDs. For this, the booklet is rather spartan. The best version is Essential 3.0 with 43 songs missing on 3 CDs on which almost no important song, but is significantly more expensive for it.
