How to read already in other reviews, this album is different. "Wasting Light" was there, rocked and stayed directly in the ear. Bäääm, from the very beginning. In Sonic highways you have to get involved and the time then to be found in (almost) all songs that certain something. What has helped me the "Fall" is the album ;-) accompanying documentary. If you look at this, you get a lot more sense of the song and suddenly you can hear it with different ears. I walked's at least so!
Meanwhile, I have heard the album over and over again and find it, as mentioned above, almost all good. Really cool find "The Feast And The femine", my favorite on the album. But even "Something From Nothing" and "Congregations" both rock very neat.
"What Did I Do? / God As My Witness" captures exceptionally and then grooving tidy therefore and has already more pop chorus, but still like it very much. The second part of the song is quiet and pleasant to hear.
"Outside" and "In The Clear" were two songs where the documentary has shown me the right "Höransatz". ;-) Since then I think in "Outside" always adhere to the legendary dessert sessions that must have been very cool.
Let's talk about "Subterranean", here I can do what I want, with the song I will not warm. In the documentary you go with the song by Sub Pop and the entire horny Seattle bands, but what Dave and the guys have thought when writing this song remains a mystery. For me the only really weak song on the album.
As a "bouncer" Then come the strings used and "I Am A River" has become a really hot song. This is a song which from behind, quietly ranschleicht to you, to be a nice guy disguises to you then but to give beautiful one on the bell! Very cool! Do not get me wrong, that is not a song in which the end of the album, the double-bass is dug up, but the song just piles up enormous and makes a lot of fun!
